The Apple Tree - [Enjoy English]
A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and lay around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow... He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.
Time went by... the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day. One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. “Come and play with me,” the tree asked the boy. “I am no longer a kid, I don’t play around trees anymore.” The boy replied, “I want toys. I need money to buy them.”“Sorry, but I don’t have money...but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.” The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited. “Come and play with me,” the tree said. “I don’t have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?”“Sorry, but I don’t have a house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house.” So the boy cut all the branches off the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.
One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted. “Come and play with me!” the tree said. “I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?”“Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.” So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time. The tree was happy, but it was not true.
Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. “Sorry, my boy. But I don’t have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you...” the tree said.
“I don’t have teeth to bite,” the boy replied.
“No more trunk for you to climb on.”
“I am too old for that now,” the boy said.
“I really can’t give you anything... the only thing left is my dying roots,” the tree said with tears.
“I don’t need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years.” The boy replied.
“Good! Old tree roots is the best place to lean on and rest. Come, Come sit down with me and rest.” The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears...
This is a story of everyone. The tree is our parent. When we were young, we loved to play with Mom and Dad... When we grown up, we left them, and only came to them when we need something or when we are in trouble. No matter what, parents will always be there and give everything they could to make you happy. You may think that the boy is cruel to the tree but that’s how all of us are treating our parents.
Take time out during the day for quiet time to listen to your inner voice. You may want to use your quiet time to meditate or pray. However you use this time, the key is to shut out all of the noise around you by focusing deep within yourself. Breathing deeply during quiet time will also help you focus. I know it’s hard to find quiet time during a particularly busy day, but it’s so important — even if it’s just 10 minutes a day and you have to sneak away to get it. Quiet time can really make a difference in your life. It enables you to hear God speaking to your heart reminding you of His perfect love for you.
Be honest with yourself by paying attention to your actions. Actions speak louder than words, and they always tell the truth. What do your actions say about you? If you say you love your job, but your actions say otherwise, which do you think is more true -

Rising from humble beginnings in the small town in Quebec, Celine Dion became one of the biggest international stars in pop music history, selling more than 100million albums worldwide.
Dion grew up in an environment full of the inherent chaos and material austerity that comes with a large working-class family. However, the Dion household was also one filled with love for children and music, and her parents and siblings were important figures in the early development of her singing career.
Celine Dion began singing in her parents’ piano bar when she was just five years old. By the age of 12 she had written one of her first songs, It Was Only a Dream, which she recorded with the help of her mother and brother and shipped off to a manager named Rene Angelil, whose name they found on the back of an album by Ginette Reno, a popular Francophone singer. After weeks with no response from Angelil, Celine’s brother Michel phoned him and said, "I know you haven’t listened to the tape, because if you had, you would’ve called right away." Angelil dug up the tape and called the family back the same day to -

Enjoy English]
[face01]
Antenna,aerial(前者为"美式英语",后者为"英式英语",下同)--泛指无线电上使用的"天线",但antenna远比aerial(或aerial wire)流行。
Ash,can;dust,bin--指垃圾箱。
这两个字都是总称,故此不能说a baggage(或luggage),而应说a piece of baggage(或luggage),two pieces of baggage等。
汽油站是gas Station(=英 Petrol station),也可说gasoline station。
Overcoat,great coat--大衣,大氅。
Second floor,first floor--

Speak out Your Love 爱在心里口要开 - [Enjoy English]
There was once a guy who suffered from cancer, a cancer that can’t be cured. He was 18 years old and he could die anytime. All his life, he was stuck in his house being taken cared by his mother. He never went outside but he was sick of staying home and wanted to go out for once. So he asked his mother and she gave him permission.
He walked down his block and found a lot of stores. He passed a CD store and looked through the front door for a second as he walked. He stopped and went back to look into the store. He saw a beautiful girl about his age and he knew it was love at first sight. He opened the door and walked in, not looking at anything else but her. He walked closer and closer until he was finally at the front desk where she sat.
She looked up and asked, “Can I help you?”
She smiled and he thought it was the most beautiful smile he has ever seen before and wanted to kiss her right there.
He said, “Uh... Yeah... Umm... I would like to buy a CD.”
He picked one out and gave her money for it.
“Would you like me to wrap it for you?” she asked, smiling her cute smile again.
He nodded and she went to the back. She came back with the wrapped CD and gave it to him. He took it and walked out of the store.
He went home and from then on, he went to that store every day and bought a CD, and she wrapped it for him. He took the CD home and put it in his closet. He was still too shy to ask her out and he really wanted to but he couldn’t. His mother found out about this and told him to just ask her. So the next day, he took all his courage and went to the store as usual. He bought a CD like he did every day and once again she went to the back of the store and came back with it wrapped. He took it and when she wasn’t looking, he left his phone number on the desk and ran out...
RRRRRING!!!
One day the phone rang, and the mother picked it up and said, “Hello?”
It was the girl!!! The mother started to cry and said, “You don’t know? He passed away yesterday...”
The line was quiet except for the cries of the boy’s mother. Later in the day, the mother went into the boy’s room because she wanted to remember him. She thought she would start by looking at his clothes. So she opened the closet.
She was face to face with piles and piles and piles of unopened CDs. She was surprised to find all these CDs and she picked one up and sat down on the bed and she started to open one. Inside, there was a CD and as she took it out of the wrapper, out fell a piece of paper. The mother picked it up and started to read it. It said: Hi... I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me? Love, Jocelyn.
The mother was deeply moved and opened another CD...
Again there was a piece of paper. It said: Hi... I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me? Love, Jocelyn.
Love is... when you’ve had a huge fight but then decide to put aside your egos, hold hands and say, “I Love You.”

Woman Sells Ad Rights to Pregnancy on eBay

If the human body is the last frontier for advertising space, then St. Louis resident Asia Francis is helping chart new territory — the big, pregnant belly.
Francis, 21, auctioned off the advertising rights to her pregnancy on eBay. The winning bid of $1,000 went to a California Internet company, giving it exclusive rights to temporarily tattoo its brand-name on Francis’s belly and broadcast the birth of her daughter live on the Internet. The baby is due any day.
The concept of a human billboard is hardly new.
Twenty-one year old Andrew Fischer of Omaha, Neb., earned more than $37,000 last year by bearing a corporate logo on his forehead for a month. Michele Hutchison of Lanhorne, Pa., auctioned ad rights for her baby’s clothing on eBay last year, seeking $1,000 for a months’ lease.
For big companies, the idea is simple. Do something outrageous or strange, grab some media attention and cut through the clutter of advertising messages that bombards consumers.
"It’s a well-held theory in the advertising industry that the average person on the street receives up to 3,000 branded messages a day," said Floyd Hayes, whose New York advertising firm, Cunning Communications, specializes in media stunts.
The pregnant belly is prime real estate for auction because its likely to get people talking, Hayes said.
"If they were to buy the free coverage they will receive for this, it would cost them many times more the fee they paid the person," he said.

Enjoy English]
Before Microsoft came along, there really was no software industry was just a few companies selling very high-priced software only to companies, big companies. The idea of low-cost software that would be empowering for individuals and that them could be literally around the world hundreds of thousands of these successful companies-that was part of the Microsoft dream. And in fact, the software industry is 10,000 times bigger because of the work we do. The vast majority of all the revenue in the software business is because Microsoft has a uniform platform that has gotten out to go around the world. And so in every country we’ve helped companies grow up, create jobs, pay taxes around the software world. The main competitors who don’t like us are actually hardware companies who have been used to charging very high prices for the hardware and the PCs changed that.
It’s hard to think of a business that’s had a more positive effect for customers than the PC business. The rate of product improvement, the kind of empowerment it provides, its ability to create and stay in touch. You known the closest comparison is when publishing came along and people had books. Of course books created a problem. You know, the people wanted to control things didn’t like books, the people who wanted to sell high-priced hand written things didn’t like the printing press. But overwhelming it was something that people knew really that it was very positive. The same thing’s happened with the PC. There’s no company that in terms of our work has gotten as positive feedback and you how has gotten as broad a set of users. Those users are always telling us what they’d like to see us make better, and that’s partly why it’s a fun business because we get to make new versions of the software all the time.
Well, the vision of Microsoft is about information as you want it, any time, anywhere, any place. And this is an overall strategy about making it easier to write software, easier to share data, revolutionizing user interface with the speech and handwriting. And making reading off the computer as good or better than paper and so today we’re as radical as ever in seeing that the horizons for software will let us get so much more than even what we have now.
The digital future includes lots of specialized devices. If all you want to do is make a voice call, you will have a device for that, if all you want to do is take a photo, you’ll have a device for that. The PC of course will be the device whenever you want to see a full-size screen to do anything with documents or web browsing or planning, you’ll use that. Now sometimes these devices will be combined together and we have enough partners who make these devices that every possible combination will be tried. You know putting the phone and the camera togethe -

I Lay My Love On You - [Enjoy English]
Westlife: I Lay My Love On You
Just a smile and the rain is gone
Can hardly believe it (yeah)
There’s an angel standing next to me
Reaching for my heart
Just a smile and there’s no way back
Can hardly believe it (yeah)
But there’s an angel, she’s calling me
Reaching for my heart
I know, that I’ll be ok now
This time it’s real
I lay my love on you
It’s all I wanna do
Everytime I breathe I feel brand new
You open up my heart
Show me all your love, and walk right through
As I lay my love on you
I was lost in a lonely place
Could hardly even believe it (yeah)
Holding on to yesterdays
Far, far too long
Now I believe its ok cause this time it’s real
I lay my love on you
It’s all I wanna do
Everytime I breathe I feel brand new
You open up my heart
Show me all your love, and walk right through
As I lay my love on you
I never knew that love could fell so good
Like once in a lifetime
You change my world
I lay my love on you
You make me feel brand new
Show me all your love, and walk right through
As I lay my love on you
I lay my love on you
It’s all I wanna do
Everytime I breathe I feel brand new
You open up my heart
Show me all your love, and walk right through
As I lay my love on you
I lay my love on you
You make me feel brand new
You open up my heart
Show me all your love, and walk right through

Every woman is beautiful - [Enjoy English]
Every woman is beautiful
A little boy asked his mother "Why are you crying?"
"Because I’m a woman," she told him.
"I don’t understand," he said.
His mum just hugged him and said, "And you never will."
Later the little boy asked his father,"Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?"
"All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say.
The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.
Finally he put in a call to God; and when God got on the phone, he asked,"God, why do women cry so easily?"
God said: "When I made the woman, she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world; yet, gentle enough to give comfort."
"I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children."
"I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining."
"I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly."
"I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart."
"I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly."

The First Day - [Enjoy English]
The First Day
I wish I could remember the first day,
First hour, first moment of your meeting me,
If bright or dim the season,
It might be summer or winter for aught I can say.
So unrecorded did it slip away,
So blind was I to see and foresee,
So dull to mark the budding of my tree
That would not blossom yet for many a May.
If only I could recollect it,
Such a day of days!
Let it come and go as traceless as a thaw of bygone snow;
It seemed to mean so little, meant so much;
If only now I could reed that touch,
First touch of hand in hand-Did one but know!
如融雪般全然消逝;
它现在看似无足轻重,其实当时意味深长;

Enjoy English]
I love you not for whom you are, but who I am when I’m by your side.
No person deserves your tears, and who deservers them won’t make you cry.
Just because someone doesn’t love you as you wish, it doesn’t mean you’re not loved with all his/her being.
A true friend is the one who holds your hand and touches your heart
The worst way to miss someone is to be seated by his/her side and know you’ll never have him/her.
Never stop smiling, not even when you’re sad, someone might fall in love with your smile.
You may only be a person in this world, but for someone, you’re the world.
Don’t spend time with someone who doesn’t care spending it with you.
Maybe God wants you to meet many wrong people before you meet the right one, so when this happens, you’ll be
thankful.
Don’t cry because it came to an end. Smile because it happened.
There will always be people who’ll hurt you, so you need to continue trusting, just be careful.
Be sure to know who you are before meeting someone new and hoping that person knows who you are.

Enjoy English]
1,Hey!wise up!
或“Don’t be silly.”
2,Put up or shut up.
3,You eat with that mouth?
还有一种说法:“You kiss your mother with that mouth?”
4,You are dead meat.
也可以说:“You are dead.”
5,Don’t you dare!How dare you!
6,Don’t push me around.
如:“You are so bossy. I Don’t like that.” 或“Don’t push me any further.”。
7,You want to step outside?
我还听过类似的用法,如:“Do you want to pick a fight?”

Daily drink improves thinking in older women(zh) - [Enjoy English]
Women who enjoy a drink of beer or wine daily have sharper minds into old age than women who abstain, U.S. researchers reported recently.
The report, based on a study of nearly 12,500 nurses, adds to the apparent benefits of light to moderate drinking, which can also prevent heart disease and stroke.
"Our study suggests that moderate consumption might provide older women some cognitive benefits," said Dr. Francine Grodstein of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, who worked on the study.
Writing in the New England Journal of Medicine, Grodstein and colleagues said they found that drinkers aged 70 to 81 were 20 percent less likely to experience a decline in their thinking skills over a two-year period than women who did not drink at all.
On average, the women who quaffed a beer or a glass of wine each day tended to have the mental agility of someone a year and a half younger than abstainers.
Drinking more than one glass of beer or wine didn’t produce a greater benefit, the researchers said. However, few of the nurses in the study were heavy drinkers.
And it didn’t seem to matter whether the women drank wine or beer, according to the team, led by Dr. Meir Stampfer, also of Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Moderate alcohol consumption -- about a 12-ounce (0.35 liters) beer or a six-ounce (0.18 liters) glass of wine -- is already known to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.
The researchers used the ongoing Nurses’ Health Study, in which the women filled out questionnaires about drinking habits and took a telephone survey designed to assess thinking skills.
In an editorial in the Journal, Dr. Denis Evans and Dr. Julia Bienias of the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, cautioned that the findings are not conclusive.
It may simply be, they said, "that older persons who are in good cognitive and physical health may be more likely than less healthy peers to indulge in low-to-moderate alcohol consumption as part of their social activities."
